Warner Bros. Pictures have announced a digital exhibition in collaboration with the National Portrait Gallery to celebrate the release of the new film ONE LIFE in cinemas from 1stJanuary, 2024. The collaboration includes an exclusive private preview event on 11th December and the exhibition will be available digitally to the public from 12th December. Guests will include stars of the film, ONE LIFE director James Hawes, writers Lucinda Coxon and Nick Drake, and they will be joined by many of the Kindertransportees and the Winton family.

The exhibition will be hosted online on the Gallery’s website (npg.org.uk) and features 11 new portraits of people who, as children, travelled on the Kindertransport, organised by Sir Nicholas Winton 84 years ago. These portraits were captured by Simon Hill HonFRPS during a special reunion moment at the recent European premiere of the film at the BFI London Film Festival. The digital exhibition will also include a portrait of Sir Nicholas Winton from the National Portrait Gallery’s own Collection, captured by Henry Browne on 30 April 2009. In addition, interviews with the Kindertransportees will be presented, detailing their journeys and experiences during this time and after arriving in the UK.

Tanya Bentley, Curator of the Contemporary Collection at the National Portrait Gallery, said: “The National Portrait Gallery tells the stories of those who have shaped – and continue to shape – the nation, so it is our privilege to work in collaboration with Warner Bros. Pictures  to celebrate the lives of the Winton Kindertransportees and the courageous actions of Sir Nicholas Winton. The ONE LIFE digital exhibition, which includes new portraits and recorded testimonies, gives audiences the opportunity to learn about the rich and varied lives of those he helped bring to the United Kingdom.”

ONE LIFE, a See-Saw Films production, tells the true story of Sir Nicholas ‘Nicky’ Winton, a young London broker who, in the months leading up to World War II, rescued 669 children from the Nazis. Today, more than 6000 people are estimated to be alive because of his efforts. The film will be released in UK cinemas on 1st January, 2024.
