Camera operators Ilana Garrard ACO, Lucy Bristow ACO and Aga Szeliga Assoc ACO, have set-up a new website, Women Behind The Camera, (https://womenbehindthecamera.co.uk), providing a network and showcase for women who work in the camera department in the UK film and TV production industry.
“This website was initially conceived as a way of trying to encourage more women into camera operating as a career,” said Garrard, “but we hope it will develop into a useful resource that producers and DPs can use to crew-up in a diverse manner.
“It could also be a tool for networking, a way of passing on work to other women, or information about events. We are interested in helping women progress up the rungs of the camera department, and with this in mind we hope in the future to organise training and mentoring around camera operating.”
