RED DIGITAL CINEMA is set to showcase its revolutionary cinema cameras at the BSC Expo, held February 14-15, 2025, at Battersea Evolution in London. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with RED’s groundbreaking V-RAPTOR [X] and KOMODO-X, discovering RED’s cutting-edge technologies firsthand.
Visitors to RED (Stand 22) will be able to experience the V-RAPTOR [X} large-format global shutter cinema camera and witness the outstanding capabilities of its Global Vision suite, including Extended Highlights and the innovative Phantom Track for both virtual and live productions. Attendees will also see the tiny but mighty KOMODO-X, featuring a 6K S35 global shutter sensor, enhanced low-light performance and exceptional frame rates of 6K at 80P and 4K at 120P, all packed into a 4x4x5-inch form factor and weighing just 2.6 lbs.
At 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, RED will host a captivating discussion at the Expo on “Developing the Visual Idea Behind High-Concept Movies,” featuring filmmakers Rob Hardy, ASC, BSC, Stephan Pehrsson, BSC, Benjamin Kračun, BSC and Visual Effects Supervisor Erik Winquist.
Moderated by RED’s Naida Albright, the panel will delve into how cinematographers plan pre-visualize sequences on world-building features and TV series while maintaining intimacy with characters through small form factor camera rigs and lenses. The filmmakers have all brought visual bravura to stories that include extensive visual effects, and as VFX technology has advanced, so too have camera and lens technology and techniques. The conversation will explore how innovations, including the application of more complex bokeh and anamorphic image creation, are enabling filmmakers to extend their craft.
