Pixipixel presented the latest additions to its inventory at its Manchester spring showcase, held on 11 May.
Visitors to The Sharp Project, a former factory turned production space which is home to Pixipixel’s northern base, were treated to demos of some of the company’s most popular products. There was the opportunity to get hands on with the Alexa S35, with the helpful team at the ready to answer any questions.
Also on display was the company’s expansive lighting rental offering, which includes products from the likes of Aputure, Creamsource and Nanlux, and its ever-expanding accessories collection.
A highlight of the showcase was Pixipixel’s range of rehoused vintage lenses. These included the new Olympus OM Zuiko Lenses, sharp and contrasty glass rehoused for cinematography by Finland’s Whitepoint Optics; Pixipixel has acquired a 17-strong set. There were also the Optix Extreme 17mm T.28 Wide Angle Lenses, developed under the expertise of Pixipixel’s technical director – cameras, Renos Louka, offering a uniquely sharp image compared to other wide-angle glass.
Earlier this year, Pixipixel acquired broadcast equipment hire firm Pro Motion Hire, bolstering the company’s presence in northern England. Pro Motion Hire, established in 2005, specialises in supporting factual projects including natural history and feature documentary shoots. The union of the two brands boosts Pixipixel’s standing in the rental market.
At the time of the acquisition, Pixipixel’s managing director Steve Knight commented: “This is a very exciting development for us. Pro Motion Hire is a great fit and we’re thrilled about working with the team, propelling Pixipixel’s expansion plans and increasing our market presence to support productions of all sizes nationwide.”
