
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the Cinematography nominees for the 98th Oscars.
After 16 films advanced to the 2026 shortlist, it has now been revealed that the following are nominated for the industry’s most prestigious awards:
- Frankenstein – Dan Laustsen ASC DFF
- Marty Supreme – Darius Khondji ASC AFC
- One Battle After Another – Michael Bauman
- Sinners – Autumn Durald Arkapaw ASC
- Train Dreams – Adolpho Veloso ABC AIP
Sinners has already seen DP Arkapaw win Best Cinematography at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards, while Train Dreams saw Adolpho Veloso ABC AIP take home Best Cinematography at the LAFCA Awards.
All five films were also recently nominated for the ASC Awards.
Overall, Ryan Coogler’s Sinners has broken the Academy Awards record with 16 nominations, beating the previous record of 14 jointly held by All About Eve (1950), Titanic (1997) and La La Land (2016).
This includes nods for Best Picture, Directing and Original Screenplay.
Following behind with 13 nominations is One Battle After Another, which recently scooped four prizes at the Golden Globes, while Frankenstein, Marty Supreme and Sentimental Value, a big winner at the European Film Awards, boast nine nods apiece.
Academy members from each of the 19 branches vote to determine the nominees in their respective categories, while all active members are eligible to select the Best Picture nominees. Members submitted nomination ballots from 88 countries.
Twenty-four categories will be awarded at the 98th Oscars, which takes place on Sunday 15 March.
Each category has five nominees, except for Best Picture, which has 10.
