Movietech sizes-up new large format lensing options

Nov 16, 2017

In preparation for the new wave of large format camera systems, independent image capture specialist Movietech, is offering the UK’s first set of the brand new, custom-made lenses from Whitepoint Optics. The acquisition of the new lenses is part of Movietech’s on-going programme of investment in the very latest imaging technology that includes Ultra HD and 8K options.

Offering a unique bokeh, these hand-crafted units incorporate Leica and Zeiss glass, and have been created to work perfectly with large format camera systems. The lenses feature bespoke optics with an 82mm image circle, designed for full sensor coverage in the latest releases of camera systems from the likes of ARRI, Red and Sony.

A key attribute is the ‘pan and tilt’ ability, which allows complete movement of the lens up to 9 degrees, with no distortion or shift in image quality. They are available in 30, 40, 60, 80, 100 and 120mm focal lengths and compatible with PL, EF and E-mounts.

Movietech MD John Buckley said, “We’ve been steadily adding to our product range throughout the year, collaborating with cinematographers and manufacturers to seek out the type of products that help define our industry. These new Whitepoint Optics lenses deliver a superb mix of classic engineering and contemporary functionality, and are a fantastic addition to our rental stock.”
