XPLOR Centre becomes first Extended Reality facility in Yorkshire
Mar 9, 2022
A multi-million-pound research and innovation centre, the 2,520 sqm building houses pre-visualisation suites as well as design and prototype spaces which can be used to test, model, and build product design, machine automation, hardware prototypes, and immersive VR/XR experiences, modelling, and rendering.Â
As one of only a handful of open-access facilities in the UK, the Centre for Virtual Production is helping to bridge the development gap by enabling SMEs and agencies to take advantage of virtual production technologies. Unlike exclusive-access super studios, it is available to any production enterprise with a creative vision.Â
In addition to its XR capabilities, access to the studio comes with other benefits. Due to its home on Production Park, clients can tap into the wealth of additional state-of-the-art resources, supply chain companies and wraparound services all on one site, including an arena-size rehearsal studio called Studio 001, multi-use meeting, workshop, and design facilitiesÂ
Virtual production will continue to boost creative possibilities and unlock value for those in the film production, television, advertising, and live events industries. Considering the benefits, the time to fully embrace this highly effective and immersive technology is now.Â
