This year Stockholm International Film Festival launches Nordic Wave – a new initiative to highlight new innovative filmmakers. Participants pitching long-format projects can win an award worth 400 000 SEK. Deadline for submission to Nordic Wave is the 15th of October.
Stockholm International Film Festival, celebrating 35 years, invites the next wave of Nordic filmmakers to pitch and share their stories for a long-format project. This takes place during the Stockholm Industry Days 12–14 November. The participating filmmaker has to be based in a Nordic country and be open to competing with projects, both feature film and series, that are currently in development. The condition: It must be the first time it will be pitched in Sweden.
During the Industry Days industry professionals and a jury will select projects to compete for the Nordic Wave award of 400 000 SEK in the form of post-production support from partner Tint. The company, based both in Stockholm and Gothenburg, has put the finishing touches to sound, lighting, and cutting to for example Ruben Östlund’s “Triangle of Sadness” and the HBO series “We Are Who We Are”.
Included in the post-production support is the work of a colorist including a grading suite and access to Sweden’s largest cinema mixing stage built for Dolby Atmos Theatrical with 4K projection onto a 28 square meter screen. All to take place in the facilities of Tint in Gothenburg.
The 35th edition of Stockholm International Film Festival takes place 6–17 November. In the Stockholm Competition directors compete for the Bronze Horse. The competition is open for filmmakers making their first, second or third dramatic feature. In the new initiative Nordic Wave criteria for projects are the same: It must be the director’s first, second, or third long-format project.
