Sony returns to BSC Expo 2024 showcasing its extensive range of filmmaking technology

Sony is returning to BSC Expo 2024 exhibiting its extensive range of filmmaking technology.

From filming on set, to image and video capture, audio and postproduction, solutions on show will include the recently announced BURANO, the digital cinema camera, shipping mid-February 2024, and Crystal LED VERONA for Virtual Production. Visitors to the stand will be able to experience and talk to experts about the well-established Sony technology to support any filmmakers’ needs.

Along with the BURANO and the VERONA the Sony stand will exhibit the full Cinema Line range, accessible to all filmmakers regardless of their budget or application. Sony will also be showcasing the BVM-HX3110, a premium professional postproduction monitor with a Sony-designed dual layer anti-reflection LCD.

Sony will preview the VENICE 2 camera version 3.0 firmware update and showcase some of the early prototypes of new firmware updates to Cinema Line cameras FX6, FX3 and FX30 planned in the near future.

The ILME-FX6 ver.5.0 firmware update is expected from May 2024 or later and will include 

  • The addition of 1.5x setting to the De-squeeze function
  • Monitor & Control feature (ex. Waveform, False colour such as FX3/30 already supported)
  • A new preset 709tone support to colour match multiple cameras
  • The expansion of supported lenses, such as the SEL100400GM & SEL200600G, for breathing compensation

The firmware update for FX3 and FX30 is expected from September 2024 or later and will include:

  • A Shutter Angle option
  • 709tone support
  • SRT/RTMP/RTMPS support for Live streaming demand

At Sony we keep this in mind when developing products such as the VENICE Extension System, BURANO, FX9, FX6 and FX3. As we want to keep the focus on allowing filmmakers to tell their story freely and creatively, whilst eliminate the hassle of transporting equipment.”

Sony will also be showcasing a range of third-party products including Pomfort Livegrade, the live grade system that integrates remote grading features of Sony VENICE 2 cameras.

Sony will be exhibiting from 15th – 17th February at BSC Expo 2024 on stand 247.
