Our friends over at Shooting People are soon to be hosting the next New Shoots event: A Masterclass in Visual Storytelling on the 20th April at 7pm where they’ll be welcoming Tom Townend (You Were Never Really Here, Attack the Block, We Need To Talk About Kevin) and Annika Summerson (Censor, Mogul Mowgli).
The pair both have wildly different experience in film, with Tom being incredibly established across the industry, starting off working in commercials, dabbling in music videos, and scoring multiple critically acclaimed features – his approach to cinematography is meticulous, and his use of handheld? Unparalleled.
Likewise, Annika is one to watch – with Censor absolutely tearing through awards season and making a huge break last year, Annika has truly made a name for herself. Her approach is beautifully experimental – you only have to look to Censor which changed aspect ratio throughout, consistently creatively used lighting and was all shot on 35mm to get an idea of her work.
