Screen Craft Rights endorsed by the ISC

Screen Craft Rights announce that they have been formally endorsed by the Irish Society of Cinematographers.
Following the UK’s departure from the European Union, Screen Craft Rights has been eager to demonstrate to its European Collective Management Organisation partners that it remains a very inclusive organisation. Screen Craft Rights’ membership includes many European Union craft authors, who either live in the UK now or consistently work on UK productions. A large, and growing, number of those craft authors are Irish. To highlight this, Screen Craft Rights approached the Irish Society of Cinematographers with the idea of formalising their relationship.
Celebrating the announcement, Humphrey Dixon, Chair of the Screen Craft Rights Board said: “Screen Craft Rights is privileged to have been endorsed by the Irish Society of Cinematographers. We look forward to enjoying a long and fruitful relationship with our colleagues in the Irish Republic.”
Stephen Murphy BSC, ISC, President of the Irish Society of Cinematographers responded: “The Irish Society of Cinematographers is delighted to formally endorse Screen Craft Rights. The work they have done to encourage the recognition of the Cinematographers contribution to the visual authorship of the image is game changing. We encourage all cinematographers to join Screen Craft Rights and we hope more countries will continue to recognize our co-authorship rights and work with Screen Craft Rights to realize that.”
Fellow Cinematographer, John Daly BSC and Board Member of Screen Craft Rights, welcomed the news: “I am thrilled that the Irish Society of Cinematographers has endorsed Screen Craft Rights in its commitment to advancing the rights of cinematographers and other creative crafts. We look forward to collaborating closely with our Irish colleagues in this shared mission.”
Established in March 2011, Screen Craft Rights is a not-for-profit Collecting Management Organisation. It collects and administers licensing revenue attributable to the exploitation in broadcast, video distribution or online exploitation of the products of the services of the crafts professions in audio-visual works. Such crafts include, variously depending upon the legislation in different territories: Cinematographers, Film Editors, Production Designers and Costume Designers. It now has a membership of over 2,200 craft authors.
Currently, Screen Craft Rights makes claims to collective management organisations in Austria, Finland, Germany, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland. In July 2024, Screen Craft Rights concluded a reciprocal agreement with Hungary.
