New update announced for the Lens & Filter Library

Mar 9, 2023

The LFL – Lens & Filter Library released a new update at BSC Expo 2023 where it was exhibited at the Rosco booth.

This, the largest update to date, takes the number of lens & filter tests available to filmmakers to over 80, with the LFL’s catalogue and features set to keep growing  throughout 2023.

The LFL is a free online library of lens & filter tests shot and compiled by  London based cinematographer Richard William Preisner alongside focus puller Klimas Jurevičius.

“I wanted to find a way to share our lens & filter test findings with other  filmmakers, to help them to make creative & technical decisions in pre  production and whilst on set. I designed the LFL to be useful for my own  work as a cinematographer and by doing that I hoped that other  cinematographers and filmmakers would find it to be a useful resource  too.” said Richard William Preisner.

The latest update features many spherical super 35 and full frame lenses shot on the Sony Venice 2  including Arri Signature Primes, Zeiss Supremes, Canon Sumires, Leica Summicron-C, Sigma  Classics and Sigma Cine T1.5s.The latest tests were kindly facilitated by Ian Jackson at VMI in West  London. The LFL is easily accessible and available as a shortcut on phone/tablet as well as on larger  monitors, with most videos available in 4K.
