New equipment produces results for Movietech

Following a period of investment, the independent, Pinewood Studios-based camera, lens and grip specialist Movietech is seeing its newly-introduced product lines being embraced by an impressive roster of cinematographers.
Having acquired some of the industry’s latest digital technology – in the form of RED Weapon cameras, plus hi-resolution lensing options from Leica, Fujinon and Cooke – the company says it has barely had time to prep the equipment before sending it out to production.
Movietech has been working with an impressive roster of DPs including Tobias A. Schliessler ASC, Dick Pope BSC, John de Borman BSC, James Friend BSC, Thimios Bakatakis, Ben Smithard BSC and Ed Moore on a variety of production types, such as the features Beauty And The Beast, Legend, Ex-Machina and The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel plus BBC drama Silent Witness and a host of commercials.
In addition to worldwide product sourcing, Movietech’s in-house engineering facility has allowed the company to create a selection of unique products, designed and developed around the specific requirements of cinematographers. One such example is the recently-introduced Movietech Dual Viewfinder which, upon completion, rapidly found it’s way from the engineering department to the set.
Movietech managing director John Buckley commented, “Our aim is to deliver exactly what the DP wants. As an independent operator we are fortunate to have access to the very best equipment from the best manufacturers. We’ve taken the time to consider the needs of our customers and we’re delighted that our recent investments have been so well received.”
