Stage Fifty has named a stage at its Farnborough site in Hampshire after the pioneering independent TV production company, Hartswood Films.
The Hartswood Stage is one of two 22,000 sq ft sound stages built earlier this year to support the UK’s booming film and TV industry.
For over 40 years, the team at Hartswood Films have produced world-class drama and comedy shows. As Inside Man, their new four-part thriller for BBC One and Netflix, nears completion, Debbie & Sue Vertue, Steven Moffat, and members of the crew came together to celebrate the unveiling of the studio’s new name plaque.
James Enright, CEO of Stage Fifty said: “Hartswood has a reputation for championing new filming locations, and we couldn’t have asked for a better production company to be the first to shoot at Farnborough Film Studios. They take pride in developing new talent on both sides of the camera and have actively supported the local community, creating jobs and bringing investment to the area.”
Sue Vertue, executive producer & CEO of Hartswood Films said: “We are truly honoured to have a stage named after our company. It was exciting (and sometimes daunting) to have been involved from when it was just an open space, but we have had a great time filming here. This is a state-of-the-art sound stage with fabulous locations in the surrounding areas. We have also had the opportunity to involve quite a few local residents in a ScreenSkills First Break work experience programme which was very exciting for both sides, I believe.”
