The Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal, and Craig Hatkoff founded festival is due to return in-person for a 20th anniversary celebration.
Spanning the majority of June (9-20th), the AT&T sponsored festival will boast a 12-day multi-screen outdoor setup to get people back watching festivals again. The venues in question will span all of Tribeca’s characteristic boroughs, including Empire Outlets in Staten Island and The Battery in Manhattan.
In addition to this, the organisation will host community screenings of some of the most exciting films using 40-foot state-of-the-art cinemas. Patricia Jacobs, AT&T, surmised that the partnership “allows us to utilise our innovative technology, to connect audiences with underrepresented voices and storytellers”.
Michael R. Bloomberg said of the plans: “This year, the festival is once again shining a spotlight on our city’s resilience and creativity, and just as we’ve done from the start, Bloomberg is glad to support this great tradition, which will once again help lift our city’s spirit.” The festival was originally founded as a response to the 9/11 terror attacks and has subsequently loomed large in the hearts of New Yorkers since.
