Epic Games expands access to virtual production training with new Unreal Connectors program

Apr 28, 2022

Epic Games introduced Unreal Connectors, a new program to extend accessibility to the highly successful curriculum developed for the intensive Unreal Fellowship.

Unreal Connectors is a new skill-building training program offered exclusively through participating Unreal Authorised Training and Unreal Academic Partners. The program will offer an abridged version of the Unreal Fellowship training model including curriculum, pre-recorded content, guest lecturers and mentorship, along with a capstone project that offers participants a first-hand experience in virtual production.

Featuring a flexible and customizable course structure, Unreal Connectors will enable more artists to take advantage of the career-changing skills training and credential opportunity offered via the Unreal Fellowship. Unreal Connectors will also deliver localized training and time zone options, extended capacity, and enable trainees to connect with regional instructors and global industry networks.

“Adoption of Unreal Engine has exploded in virtual production pipelines and the demand for UE talent is growing every day,” said Julie Lottering, director of unreal engine education, Epic Games. “The Unreal Fellowship has made a significant impact on animators and film industry creatives as they adapt their skills into real-time workflows. There has been a huge success rate of employing graduates from the Fellowship into top studios, and we look forward to making that training more accessible with Unreal Connectors.”

Upon launch, the Unreal Authorised Training and Unreal Academic Partners offering the Unreal Connectors program are: Butic (Spain), CG Spectrum (US), CGPro (US), Ecole NAD-UQAC (Canada), Escape Studios (London), IN-CAS (Germany), Prometeo-Lab (Italy), Skyup Academy (Italy), and UT-Hub (Spain), with more to come. The Unreal Connectors curriculum is built on the foundational training material developed for Unreal Fellowship which was first launched in July of 2020 for experienced VFX artists, filmmakers, animators and storytellers to take their careers to the next level in virtual production.
