Jan 25, 2022

Mission hires Catherine Crawley as head of marketing, following nearly 5 years prior leading marketing, events and social media strategy for UK Cinema Lens manufacturer Cooke Optics.

Crawley began her career in sales, marketing and management roles across the media sector, from production to post production and distribution, at companies including The Hospital Club Studio, Resolution and Air Post Production.

She then spent several years working in design and digital agencies building expertise on then-nascent social media platforms and e-commerce, as well as organising events and content marketing, before building a successful freelance career as a social media strategist. Crawley joined Cooke Optics in 2017 with in-role highlights including the launch of a new mobile first dynamic website featuring an interactive global rental/sales map and three content rich searchable film/tv galleries..

Crawley joins ‘Starting House’ Mission as part of ambitious growth plans for Digital workflow services for feature film and TV series both in-studio at the Mission Shepperton and Garden Studios offices and UK/international field location services for digital dailies and Digital Imaging Technicians. She will be working across all marketing and social media channels, online/real life/hybrid events, PR, talent development, charitable projects and community activity.

Crawley stated: “I have always admired the Mission leadership team and their dynamic, creative and empathetic approach to business. The company’s activity is a force for good in the industry: reflected in their involvement with the Mark Milsome Foundation, local charitable activity and their focus on diversity in the workplace and industry at large. They work on big Film and TV drama production projects and are well respected for their professionalism. I am excited by the challenge of what I can bring to the party from my experience and practices to date, about working collaboratively and building community with their talented staff, Digital Imaging teams and Cinematography/ Production clients.”

Mission managing director, Mark Purvis on the new hire: “The level of energy that Catherine brings to any project she touches, makes it nothing but exciting. As Mission looks to build upon the recent success the company has seen, Catherine’s experience at Cooke and her knowledge of where Post Production meets Cinematography will be instrumental in us communicating our cause. To say I feel privileged to have Catherine as part of our team is an understatement- and as Mission looks to expand our community, I am sure Catherine will find her skills put to good use.”
