Film and television LED lighting specialist Aputure has welcomed Prolycht to its lighting family.
Prolycht, known for its state-of-the-art colour science and software algorithms, will become an integral part of Aputure’s business, bringing with it fresh momentum and innovation into the field of film lighting.
With the acquisition, Aputure will assume stewardship of Prolycht’s colour science and technical talent as the two companies now embark on a new collaborative journey together.
“The Prolycht acquisition marks a pivotal juncture for Aputure, reaffirming our unwavering commitment to shaping the future of film lighting technology,” said Ian Xie, founder and CEO of Aputure. “We are thrilled to extend a warm welcome to the Prolycht team. Their expertise and passion align with Aputure’s dedication to innovation and excellence.”
Reflecting on Prolycht’s journey so far, its founder, Anqing Liu, added: “Over the past six years, Prolycht has been a catalyst for innovation in film and television lighting technology. Tremendous efforts were taken for the development of colour, sensing, optics and control technologies that have redefined industry standards. Aputure has shaped our industry with great products and always shared our goal of creating value for every filmmaker through innovation. Driven by this common philosophy, we are certain Prolycht’s technology and spirit will live on in Aputure’s future products and technologies.
“I’m really proud of what we accomplished at Prolycht, and really excited for what it means to be bringing this to Aputure,” added Prolycht’s Mitch Gross. “At Prolycht we tried to jump start the industry a little bit forward with innovative lighting technology and a design ethos that put user input first. Aputure strives to create top flight lighting instruments for all. There’s so much that Aputure has going on and we’re sweetening the deal with what Prolycht adds to the mix. Aputure didn’t just buy out a competitor, key members of the Prolycht team and all of its designs are joining Aputure. Our engineers are already working on great new solutions and there will be more to share at IBC.
“In the meantime I’m here to continue to serve the community and to let current Prolycht users know that they’re not forgotten. There’s a new firmware for the Orion 675 FS and service support still available for Prolycht products. And you know where to find me, here at Aputure.”
The Prolycht team has plans in place to ensure that existing Prolycht customers have warranty and repair support for as long as possible through Prolycht channels (service@prolycht.com).
