Angénieux announces its participation at IBC 2022

Sep 6, 2022

After two long years without IBC, Angénieux has announced its participation to the 2022 edition, with a brand new booth and a large collection of Full Frame lenses, including zooms and primes, to offer a unique complete solution to the directors of photography.

This year in Amsterdam, Angénieux will present its high-end collection of Optimo lenses including the IOP (Integrated Optical Palette) creative option and its entry-level series of TypeEZ lenses.

The Angénieux Full Frame collection of high-end lenses includes both zooms and primes. In terms of zooms, the long range Optimo Ultra 12X lens, based on the exclusive and innovative IRO (Interchangeable Rear Optics) technology by Angénieux, offers the possibility to work on three different formats, thanks to an interchangeable rear kit. In S35, it is a T2.8 24-290, a T3 126-320 in U35 and a T4.2 36-435 in FF/VV. This already popular lens replaces the legendary Optimo 24-290 which was a must on film sets for more than 20 years. Thanks to its higher mechanical and optical quality, the Optimo Ultra 12X has been taking over and is now available worldwide at film rental companies. The lens is often used on feature films, TV series, commercials and live events such as concerts, fashion shows…

As far as they are concerned, the new Optimo Ultra compact 2.7X lenses replace the Optimo 15-40 and 28-76 Academy awarded lenses. So far, the new lightweight lenses come in FF/VV version only but are IRO ready : T2.9 37-102 and T2.9 21-56. They match perfectly with the Optimo Ultra 12X lens and the Optimo Prime Series.

The Optimo Prime series of 12 lenses provides full frame 46.5mm image circle coverage with a consistent 1.8 T-stop (except on extremes). This series of primes is very compact and lightweight. Focal lengths include 18mm, 21mm, 24mm, 28mm, 32mm, 40mm, 50mm, 60mm, 75mm, 100mm, 135mm, and 200mm. Designed as smart lenses, the Optimo Primes are based on a completely new technology, the IOP (Integrated Optical Palette). The palette consists in different iris types, internal optical elements and rear filter so that the directors of photography can expand their creativity with different looks including new options they may imagine themselves. The Angénieux team will demo the procedure to change the different elements on stand at IBC.

The Type EZ Series : designed by Angénieux for both Super 35mm (S35) and Full Frame/VV (FF/VV) cameras, thanks to an interchangeable IRO technology rear kit, the Angénieux Type EZ series sits between the still photography and the mid-level zooms, offering quality optics with precise mechanics for Cine style applications, at an affordable price.

The Angénieux Type EZ-1 is a standard zoom lens with a zoom factor of 3x. When configured for S35mm cameras, the focal range and aperture are set to 30-90mm F1.9 / T2. By exchanging the rear lens group, the lens becomes a 45-135mm F2.8 / T3 covering an image circle up to 46mm diagonal.

The Angénieux Type EZ-2 is a wide zoom lens with a zoom factor of 2.7x. When configured for S35mm cameras, the focal range and aperture are set to 15-40mm F1.9 / T2. By exchanging the rear lens group, the lens becomes a 22-60mm F2.8 / T3 covering an image circle up to 46mm diagonal.

Since their introduction, the Type EZ lens series has received an amazing market response among the film and TV communities, which make them one of the best-sellers in the world.
