May 13, 2022
South London-based production company Grey Moth has launched the Five-Minute Funny Women Film Fund (FFWFF), an initiative that provides £5,000 of funding towards comedy projects for women (trans+ inclusive) filmmakers of all experience levels.
Applications are now open at grey-moth.com/originals.
In order to be eligible, the £5,000 funding must cover the full budget of the film. Grey Moth will provide mentorship, facilities & production support to the winning team.
In addition, Shoot Blue rental house will be providing a camera and lighting package to the winning filmmakers up to a value of £2,000.
Grey Moth will only consider comedy films up to five minutes long. Selections will be made based on originality and creative flair. Applications to receive funding open on the 11th May 2022 and close on the 31st May 2022. Pitches will be heard during June, with successful applicants being informed by 24th June.
Grey Moth is committed to building a fairer, kinder, and better creative industry than the existing one. The Five-Minute Funny Women Film Fund hopes to support women in navigating their way into industry. Grey Moth hopes this initiative will help broaden and bolster the filmmaking community as a whole.
The aim of the fund is to grow a network of creatives whilst building a community around our studio, and to create routes into the industry for those who face barriers to entry.
“The Grey Moth Originals Fund has been a great success in the past and we continue our commitment to reinvesting into this initiative. Since the launch last year, we’ve completed five short films which are currently starting on the festival circuit. Another two short films are in pre-production shooting this year.” said Archie Sinclair, director.
