Pixipixel assets to be auctioned by Hickman Shearer

Nov 28, 2024

Following the recent insolvency at Pixipixel, a renowned London-based cine camera, lens, and lighting rental business, Hickman Shearer, the UK’s leading auctioneers and valuers for the cine and television industries, has announced the auction of Pixipixel’s extensive rental fleet. The auction is scheduled for January 2025.

The lots include a premium selection of 35mm and full-frame cameras, anamorphic and spherical lenses, lighting, grip equipment, and generator trucks, offering cine professionals and rental houses a unique chance to acquire high-quality gear at competitive prices.

Pixipixel announced the closure in a statement on LinkedIn: “Unfortunately, due to significant challenges facing our industry, 2024 has been one of the toughest years to endure, and sadly we need to announce that we can no longer keep our doors open. We just could not keep the colours in our dots shining.”

Tim Chapman of Hickman Shearer commented on the closure: “It’s another sad day for the UK cine equipment rental sector to see the closure of Pixipixel. However, this presents a fantastic opportunity for other rental houses and professionals to acquire exceptional equipment.”
