Six DPs and two camera operators invited to BSC membership

The British Society of Cinematographers (BSC) announce that six cinematographers and two camera operators have been invited to join the society:

- SEAN ELLIS BSC (Full Member)
- ANNA VALDEZ HANKS BSC (Full Member)
- OONA MENGES BSC (Full Member)
- FRANK PASSINGHAM BSC (Full Member)
- ZOE GOODWIN-STUART ACO SOC Assoc BSC (Associate Member)
- MATT POYNTER ACO SOC Assoc BSC (Associate Member)
Christopher Ross BSC, President of the British Society of Cinematographers, commented “We are delighted to welcome these extraordinarily talented individuals to our society. Their work behind the camera enriches not only our society but the field of Cinematography, both in the UK and internationally”.
This intake marks the first of two intakes that will take place during our 75th Anniversary year, a further Autumn intake will be announced in November.
Finnish-born Bjørn Bratberg BSC FNF, is a graduate of the National Film and Television School and a BAFTA-Cymru nominee. Among Bjørn’s credits are The Feast, The Long Call, The Devil’s Hour and the forthcoming series Karen Pirie. Sergio Delgado BSC began his career in the camera department working with Director’s such as Steven Soderbergh, Jim Jarmusch and Guillermo del Toro. Among his most recent credits are A Gentleman in Moscow, The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe and The Great Surface for which he was nominated for a BAFTA-Cymru award.
Oscar-nominee Sean Ellis BSC is an award-winning director and cinematographer. Among his credits are Metro Manila, Anthropoid, Eight for Silver, the later winning him the Silver Frog at Camerimage. Anna Valdez Hanks BSC was named as BAFTA-Breakthrough Brit in 2015 having worked her way up through the camera department. Among her most recent credits are Hope Gap, Culprits and Denmark’s In Vitro. Oona Menges BSC worked her way up through the camera department in every genre of film. Her recent credits include Ruby Speaking, Lola and The Host, Frank Passingham BSC is a legend in the field of Animation with work as wide-ranging as Chicken Run, Creature Comforts, Kubo and the Two Strings and most recently Guillermo del Toro’s Oscar-winning Pinocchio.
In the Associate category, the BSC welcome Matt Poynter ACO SOC Assoc BSC. Matt is the current President of the ACO (Association of Camera Operators) and a member of the SOC (Society of Camera Operators). Among Matt’s credits are Willow, the forthcoming Wicked and he is currently A-Camera on Sandman for Netflix. In addition to Matt, we are delighted to welcome Zoe Goodwin-Stuart ACO SOC Assoc BSC, who serves as Vice-President of the Association of Camera Operators. Among Zoe’s credits are Wonka (B-Camera), The Acolyte (B-Camera) and The Franchise (A-Camera).
The BSC will welcome all eight of these wonderful filmmakers to its Summer Lunch on Sunday 7th July where they will be presented with their membership credentials.
