Winners announced for makers & shakers 2023

This year’s makers & shakers Awards winners have been revealed.

For yet another celebratory night at the BAFTA Piccadilly, members of the international screen sector joined in honouring the changemakers and innovators shaping the creative future.

The ceremony was supported by  United Airlines, Romanian Advertising and Media Association, Moroccan Cinema Centre, Dallas Film & Creative Industries Office, Fews Film Location & Studio Services, 2 In Tents Marquee Hire, Barbican, Boomerang Carnets LTD, GT Film Transport, Marriott Hotels and The Florida Keys & Key West Commission.

With the calibre of entries increasing every year, the judges were put to the challenge. But after a meticulous judging process, the Awards have revealed the seven winners. Hosted by comedian and podcaster Travis Jay.

SHAKER OF THE YEAR

Takumã Kuikuro, Filmaker/Curator, Colective Kuikuro

Dedicated to training and empowering young indigenous filmmakers, Takuma is an award-winning filmmaker and member of The Kuikuro de Cinema Collective (CKC) in Brazil. Behind the launch of the Village Audiovisual Center, Takuma’s contribution to the cause is unwavering. On a mission to preserve the history and culture of the Kuikuro people through film, research and documentation the CKC has produced numerous films, documentaries and songs that record the ritual performances of the people. This has resulted in the largest documentary collection ever made by an indigenous people. Takuma’s contribution has been as significant as it is passionate about preserving the voices and culture of the indigenous people.
