Wildscreen introduce festival global hubs

The introduction of the Festival Global Hubs will offer the opportunity for storytellers and change makers based in global natural history content hotspots to be part of the Festival.

Headline Festival Sponsor, BBC Studios Natural History Unit, is supporting the Nairobi hub, Principal Sponsor Save our Seas Foundation is supporting the Cape Town edition, with our final hub based in Bengaluru, India, being supported by Felis Creations.

The hubs will aim to encourage all wildlife film, photography, conservationists and scientists to share the experience of the event.

Cape Town Monday 17th October

Supported by Save our Seas, our Cape Town hub will focus on discussions surrounding Orca and Great white conservation.The evening will begin with networking, followed by an introduction to Wildscreen, followed by a screening of Wildscreen Official Selection nominated film by Richard Sidey, Whales in a Changing Ocean, as well as a film about OrcasAfter the screenings, there will be a panel discussion and Q&A.The hub will be held on Monday 17th October 2022, between 6 – 9pm (local time).Our Capetown hub will be hosted at the Jack Black’s Brewery.

Nairobi Friday 21st October

Supported by Wildscreen headline sponsors, BBC Studios Natural History Unit.Sessions will include insights on how during the global pandemic, production of wildlife filmmaking relied heavily on local talent to continue capturing stories around the globe, and a panel discussion on how the industry is addressing the urgent need for better and more sustainable inclusion.The Nairobi hub will also host an in-country premiere screening of Lion: The Rise and Fall of the Marsh Pride, with an in-person introduction by wildlife conservationist, Dr. Paula Kahumbu. The Nairobi Hub will also provide bespoke in-person and hybrid networking sessions with industry experts from the natural history storytelling community.The hub will be held on Friday 21st October 2022, between 11am – 8pm (local time).Our Nairobi hub will be hosted at the Emara Ole Sereni.

Bengaluru Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd October

The Bengaluru edition of the Wildscreen Festival will feature panel discussions, Panda Award nominated film screenings, photography exhibition and networking sessions. Among the festival highlights, are masterclasses by big names in the field of wildlife film-making and photography like Shekar Dattatri, noted wildlife film producer and conservation photographer, Sandesh Kadur and UK based – director, writer, and executive producer of Icon Films, Harry Marshall. Joining on the panel discussions and talks are previous Wildscreen Panda Award winners and conservationists such as Krupakar – Senani and Rita Bannerji. Some eminent and upcoming wildlife Filmmakers like Gautam Pandey, Akanksha Sood Singh, Ashwika Kapoor , will also be joining the event.The hub will be held on Friday 21st October and Saturday 22nd October. Our Bengaluru hub will be hosted at the Bangalore International Centre.The Bengaluru edition of the Wildscreen Festival is being organised by Felis Creations in partnership with the British High Commission, the UK Science & Innovation Network, Echoes of Earth and Ibex lifestyle.
