Vicon appoints new VFX product manager

Vicon, a specialist in motion capture, has announced the hiring of a new VFX product manager, David Edwards. In this role, Edwards is responsible for overseeing the direction of Vicon’s industry-leading VFX products while empowering customers to innovate, execute their visions and distinguish themselves in an increasingly competitive marketspace.

“The VFX and entertainment industry has seen tremendous growth over the past year,” said Imogen Moorhouse, Vicon CEO. “We’ve seen a significant increase in the adoption of techniques like virtual production thanks to breakout productions from our customers, such as The Mandalorian, and I’m thrilled to welcome David, who brings the experience required to continue to drive innovation across our VFX offering and support our clients in pushing the boundaries of entertainment.”

With extensive experience in visual design, Edwards joins Vicon after five years working at Staffordshire University as technical specialist for Visualisation and Simulation. In this role, he was responsible for the development of learning materials and undertaking both commercial and research projects related to laser scanning and 3D photogrammetry, while also overseeing the university’s motion capture facility advancements. Prior to this role, Edwards also worked as Technical Specialist and Educator for Videogames at the university, where he focused on providing technical support and training to over 1,500 games and VFX students.
