Venice Film Festival announces the masterclasses of the festival

From Friday, August 31 to Monday, September 4, celebrities from the world of film will be the focus of a series of masterclasses and conversations at the 80th Venice International Film Festival (August 30 – September 9) of the Biennale di Venezia. They will be held in the Conference Room of the Palazzo del Casinò at the Lido and hosted by critics and journalists.

In particular, three masterclasses are dedicated to the  directors Liliana Cavani (Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement, August 31), Nicolas Winding Refn (Tribute to Ruggero Deodato, September 1), and Wes Anderson (Cartier Glory to the Filmmaker Award, September 2), and can also be followed in livestream on the website www.labiennale.org.

Two conversations, organized in collaboration with Cartier – The Art and Craft of Cinema, will feature Damien Chazelle (President of the Jury of Venezia 80), who will  dialogue with the composer Justin Hurwitz on September 1, and on September 4, the Oscar-winning set designers Francesca lo Schiavo and Dante Ferretti.

On September 3, a third conversation – which can also be followed in livestream on the website www.labiennale.org –  will involve the directors Edward Berger (All Quiet on the Western Front) and Philippe Falardeau (Monsieur Lazhar) and is organized as part of the Venice Production Bridge, whose focus this year is dedicated to Germany and Quebec.
