The partnership will see British Cinematographer sponsor the ‘Best Cinematography’ category at the Awards this December.
British Cinematographer has announced a new partnership with the British Short Film Awards, celebrating talented cinematographers specialising in the artform.
Now in its second year, the British Short Film Awards aims to recognise, inspire, and support up-and-coming filmmakers and actors from both the UK and beyond. Among its nominees in 2021 were Andrew Scott, David Bradley, Himesh Patel and Sharon Rooney, while the judging panel included Aimee Lou Wood, Elizabeth Lail, and Samuel Adewunmi.
The shortlist for the 2022 festival will be carefully selected by a team of industry experts, including members of the British Society of Cinematographers (BSC) for the Best Cinematography award.
British Cinematographer is proud to sponsor the Best Cinematography award and to also be part of the judging panel for the cinematography category, championing the next generation of talented DPs. A behind-the-scenes piece on the work of the winner will feature in an upcoming edition of the magazine.
“We are very excited to be partnering with British Cinematographer Magazine and that they will be sponsoring the Best Cinematography category at the 2022 awards. Being featured in the magazine will be a huge honour for the winning cinematographer,” said Tommy Clarke from the British Short Film Awards.
“The British Cinematographer team is proud to be associated with the British Short Film Awards as the event goes from strength to strength in its second year. We look forward to watching the talented filmmakers’ submissions and celebrating them in all their glory,” said Zoe Mutter, editor British Cinematographer.
Filmmakers can submit their shorts for contention at the 2022 awards on the online platform FilmFreeway. The awards are set to take place in December. For updates, keep an eye on the British Short Film Awards’ website.
