SMPTE announces 2026 leadership

Two new SMPTE officers have been elected for a two-year term

SMPTE, the home of media professionals, technologists and engineers, has introduced the board officers and regional governors who will serve terms beginning this month.

Two new SMPTE officers have been elected for a two-year term from 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2027: SMPTE membership vice president Chris Lapp and SMPTE finance vice president Troy English. 

Meanwhile, SMPTE officer Raymond Yeung will continue to serve as SMPTE standards vice president for another two-year term.

“SMPTE is an organisation built on the generosity of its members,” said SMPTE executive director Sally-Ann D’Amato. 

“These officers have gone above and beyond for the Society. That’s why the membership trusts them with this important responsibility, and they are prepared to tackle it head-on. These next two years are looking bright for SMPTE because of the participation from our membership and we thank every one of you.”

In addition to the officers, the Society elected six regional governors to serve two-year (2026-2027) terms. 

These include the following regional governors who were re-elected to continue their service:

Canada Region Governor

Tony Meerakker, Meer Tech Systems

USA – Eastern Region Governor

Sara Seidel, Riedel Communications

EMEA, Central & South America Region Governor 

Dagmar Driesnack, Appear AS

Also elected were four newcomers to the SMPTE Board:

Asia-Pacific Region Governor

Paul Whybrow, Varda Creative Leadership

USA – Southern Region Governor

Andre Normil, FanDuel Sports Network

USA – Western Region Governor 

Catherine Meininger, Portrait Displays
