Ten courses have been endorsed this year by ScreenSkills Select, the industry-led scheme that gives employers confidence that students on these courses have the employability skills, experience and industry understanding they need.
Many more applications from colleges and universities are currently being assessed by the team of industry evaluators.

They join the other 100 UK college and university endorsed courses because they, too, have proved they develop industry-ready students and bring through the best new talent.
ScreenSkills Select is focused on endorsing all high quality screen courses and even more so where there are skills shortages. These include many roles in animation, games, VFX and TV production roles alongside craft and tech roles including make-up, costume and set design. These were identified in the ScreenSkills Assessment 2021 which provided a snapshot of skills issues affecting the UK screen industries
Jacqui Doyle, Head of Production and Talent, ITV Studios and member of the ScreenSkills Select Industry Advisory Group, highlights its importance to industry: “I am passionate about skills development of the future industry workforce – the industry is growing, and it is vital that we ensure training and skills development is relevant both to industry and to students.”
Tim Weiss, Director of Vocational Skills, ScreenSkills, said: “The growing number of courses endorsed this year and applications being assessed is a continuing sign of course leaders’ confidence in the industry-led scheme. In fact, 97% of academics surveyed from Select-endorsed courses have told us they would recommend the scheme to colleagues.
“It assures employers that students have the levels of knowledge and skills they want in new employees and can perform to a high standard. It helps them to prioritise recruitment and engagement activities with courses identified as having a strong industry-facing ethos.
“We can only ensure ScreenSkills Select successfully brings educators and industry together because of the support and commitment from the industry. This includes being members of the advisory panel, providing industry evaluators and supporting events with industry-leading experts. We are always keen for more to be involved too.”
ScreenSkills Select was developed by ScreenSkills, supported by the BFI, awarding National Lottery funds as part of the Future Film Skills strategy.
