
The winners of the 2025 Royal Television Society Midlands Awards were announced on Friday, celebrating the region’s most talented creators, performers and storytellers.
Organised by event manager Jayne Rae and led by RTS Midlands chair Kully Khaila, the night was all about “recognising the incredible achievements of the past year while bringing the industry together in true Midlands style”, the RTS said.
“From groundbreaking documentaries to standout scripted drama, innovative children’s programming, and inspiring new talent, the awards showcased the creativity and resilience that make the Midlands a powerhouse of UK television.”
Khaila, chair of RTS Midlands, added: “The Midlands is home to some of the most innovative and inspiring voices in UK television.
“Tonight, we celebrate not only the outstanding work produced across our region but also the resilience, creativity, and collaboration that make our industry so special.
“Congratulations to all our winners and nominees – you are the heartbeat of Midlands television.”
Among the standout winners were:
- Scripted Award – Just Act Normal by The Forge Entertainment
- Short Film – No Worries If Not! by Untamed Productions
- Craft Awards – Adam Humphries and Kate Davis (Post Production, North One TV) and Super Bowl LIX Tom Cruise Opening Film (Production, BTV)
- Animation Award – Dewmini – She Creates Change by Nexus Studios / Second Home Studios
- Children’s Award – I Can Do It You Can Too (Series 2) by Common Story
- Documentary Award – I Was There – Birmingham Pub Bombings by BBC
- News Programme of the Year – Air India Crash by ITV News Central (East Midlands)
Joe Lycett’s United States of Birmingham took the award for Popular Factual Series (North One TV), whilst Tim Shaw and Fuzz Townshend were announced as On Screen Personalities for Car SOS (Wall to Wall Media).
Breakthrough Talent was celebrated with awards for Zane Hogan (ITV Central) for Off-Screen, Chenée Taylor for her role in Just Act Normal (Scripted), and Rahil Sheikh for Panorama (Unscripted).
Acting Performance went to Sophie Turner for her role in Joan (ITV Snowed In Productions), while Mark Silcox picked up the Supporting Acting Performance award for Man Like Mobeen series 5 (Tiger Aspect Productions).
International music legends UB40 presented the very first RTS Midlands UB40 Music Video Award to Mockingbird Film Co for their video for Joan Armatrading’s “I’m Not Moving”.
Writer Award was presented to Guz Khan and Andy Milligan for Man Like Mobeen series 5 (Tiger Aspect Productions), and Director of the Year went to Nicola Silk of North One TV.
Other notable wins included:

- Sustainability Award – I Can Do It You Can Too (Series 2) by Common Story
- Diversity Champion Award – Turn + Draw by Belgrade Film and Digital Ltd
- Journalist of the Year – Ben Godfrey (BBC)
