ROGUE announce that Fern Berresford has joined their roster

Jul 12, 2023

ROGUE announces that the award-winning Fern Berresford has joined their roster.

A storyteller with work spanning across film, music videos, TV commercials and photography.  Fern’s work combines clever concepts with beautifully bold aesthetics.

Fern makes films with a strong visual language that reflects their emotion. She often combines the real and unreal with quirky characters, crafted performances and subtle humour in the wonderful worlds she constructs.

Her work has been recognised across the industry picking up two British Arrows, a Creative Circle Award, two Sharks and a New York Festival’s AME Award for her commercial work. A film funding prize from Ideas Tap, a nomination for the Young Director’s Award at the Cannes Lions and her first film ‘Man Made’ was the winner of Best Film at the Women In Film Festival.

Fern’s photography has also received numerous awards including D&AD, Creative Circle and the International Photography Awards in New York and has most recently been selected as a winner of the British Journal Of Photography’s ‘Female in Focus’ Awards.

Fern has created films for brands such as Meta, LinkedIn, Milk&More, Scottish Power, Ebay, VO5 and Fentimans.  In 2021 she directed ‘The World’s Strongest Women’ for Women’s Aid, this powerful film was part of a campaign that increased engagement with Women’s Aid by 300% and brought together several of Fern’s favourite creative aspects – a cause she cares about, a great conceptual idea, performances with emotional depth and of course a cinematic look.

Why Rogue for Fern? “I have long admired Rogue and their incredible roster of talent. They’re one of the UK’s top destination production companies. Not only do they produce outstanding commercial work, they are an extremely creative bunch who also make great short films, music videos and photography exhibitions; as a company they understand that creativity begets creativity and they encourage their directors to always be thinking outside the box.

I want my work to keep pushing in a more cinematic, storytelling direction. Although some of my films have a subtle underlying humour – I also love working on deeper, more emotionally driven scripts too – and I know Rogue is the perfect place for me to do this.

Kate is a power house who nurtures, develops and understands directors, she’s a real champion for creativity. I immediately felt a strong connection with both her and Rogue. Rogue is an open, honest and creative company that I’m very excited to be part of”.

Why Fern for Rogue? Kate Taylor, Rogue Partner and Managing Director comments, “For me, a director is always more than a reel can ever express. The very best directors in our business are the perfect combination of a sum of parts; a visionary creative storyteller, an empathetic, resilient temperament, an unrivalled ambition. Fern is the very best of all three. Her vibrant and compelling work has clearly evolved in a short space of time and every new piece showcases another layer of talent, skill and sensibility. She also happens to be an excellent human. Fern is simply a brilliant addition to our roster”.
