Reuters, one of the world’s largest news agencies, has partnered with Sony to outfit its global team of video journalists with state-of-the-art equipment. Sony’s Alpha and XDCAM cameras, along with G Master lenses and UWP-D wireless audio systems, will be deployed worldwide.
The Alpha 7S III and PXW-Z280 cameras will serve as the core gear for Reuters’ journalists, enhancing their capabilities to capture news events with precision and clarity.
The PXW-Z280 has become an industry standard due to its user-friendly design, electronic variable ND filter, and Sony’s Instant HDR workflow, which eliminates the need for color grading. Its advanced network features and support for multiple formats enable seamless integration into cloud-based news gathering workflows.
Since its launch, the Alpha 7S III has emerged as a preferred camera for on-location content creators seeking compact size and exceptional picture quality. Its advanced autofocus capabilities and outstanding low-light performance were pivotal factors in Reuters’ decision. Sony’s E-Mount strategy also offers journalists flexibility to capture images accurately, especially when paired with a wide range of Sony lenses such as the SEL2470GM2.
Both cameras benefit for the connectivity features needed to easily connect to the cloud for seamless and reliable content transfer, from the capture location back to the remote broadcast unit, particularly critical for news gathering, with its emphasis on speed.
The cameras and associated equipment have now started shipping to 23 Reuters locations across the world.
