Poor Things, Oppenheimer and Saltburn triumph at Art Directors Guild Awards

The 28th Annual ADG Awards were held on 10 February 2024 at the Ray Dolby Ballroom, Ovation Hollywood.
Oppenheimer (production designer: Ruth De Jong) took the crown in the Period Feature Film category, with competition from Asteroid City, Killers of the Flower Moon, Maestro and Napoleon.
In the Fantasy Feature Film category, Poor Things (production designers: James Price and Shona Heath) was victorious; nominees were Barbie, The Creator, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Wonka.
Saltburn (production designer: Suzie Davies) won in the Contemporary Feature Film category. Also nominated were Beau is Afraid, John Wick: Chapter 4, The Killer and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.
The night’s other winners included Patrick O’Keefe for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Animated Feature Film); The Great‘s Francesca di Mottola (One-Hour Period Single-Camera Series); John Paino for The Last of Us (One-Hour Fantasy Single-Camera Series); and Succession‘s Stephen Carter (One-Hour Contemporary Single-Camera Series).
Grace Yun won for Beef in the Television Movie or Limited Series category; Brandon Tonner-Connolly for Reservation Dogs in Half-Hour Single-Camera Series; and Glenda Rovello for Frasier in Multi-Camera Series.
Squid Game: The Challenge‘s production designers Mathieu Weekes and Benjamin Norman were honoured in the Variety or Reality Series category and Brian Stonestreet for his work on the 80th Golden Globes Awards in the Variety Special category.
There was a tie in the Commercials category between François Audouy (Apple: The New Macbook Pro: “Scary Fast”) and Florencia Martin (Booking.com: “Somewhere, Anywhere,” The Musical). Ethan Tobman’s work on Taylor Swift’s “I Can See You” music video saw success in the Short Format & Music Videos category.
