Pixipixel, the London based rental house, has revealed that it received a carbon neutral certification. This is part of Pixipixel’s sustainability commitment and makes it one of the first rental facilities that can offer camera, lighting and generators to achieve this milestone.
“We are excited to share the news about Pixipixel’s carbon neutral status. We recognise the impact, both positive and negative, that our actions have on the world. As we reduce our emissions year on year, in line with London’s goal of Net Zero by 2030, we are also offsetting our remaining measured emissions to achieve carbon neutrality” said Steve Knight, Managing Director of Pixipixel.
Pixipixel’s carbon neutral certification comes after independent assessment and verification of its greenhouse gas emissions for the last financial year. The evaluations included all of their direct emissions (scope 1), indirect emissions (scope 2), and tackled several parts of their scope 3. These measurements were conducted in accordance with the standards set by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and the Department for Business, Environment & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) for reporting emissions.
“The commitment to support verified carbon offsetting while shrinking their footprint to Net Zero is another sign of the real commitment Pixipixel has made to reduce their negative environmental impact and increase the positive side. The next step is reviewing Pixipixel’s supply chain to map and reduce emissions further.” explains Roxy Erickson, Sustainable Business Strategist at Creative Zero, which helps creative companies see through their planet and people-based ambitions.
Most of company’s emissions – approximately 107 tCO2e arise as a result of vehicle fuel consumption. Pixipixel is expected to considerably reduce this figure by up to 90% this year with its switch from diesel to HVO fuel in autumn 2021.
The company has already transitioned to renewable energy in all facilities since 2019 which prevents approximately 30+ tCO2e from entering the atmosphere annually. Pixipixel is committed to reducing waste, with none of its waste going to landfill; staff have been trained in the basics of the climate crisis and workshops have been held to listen to employees on their ideas on emission reduction actions with the assistance of Creative Zero.
“We have made progress in our efforts to run our business more sustainably and intend to go further with our carbon reduction plans to aid not only our business in being more efficient but contribute to our clients’ efforts to reduce carbon footprint on their productions” Steve Knight added.
Pixipixel are part of the Green Pledge movement and are listed as an Albert sustainable supplier.
