London Film School has announced two major appointments to its editing department ahead of the autumn term.

Arttu Salmi has been named head of editing and will join the School this month, while Mick Audsley joins as senior visiting professor, sharing his insight and expertise with students.

A Finnish-born editor trained at NFTS, Salmi has built an international career across fiction, documentary and experimental film.

His credits include Tuesday, directed by LFS alumna Daina O. Pusic, Dreamers and Sebastian.

Salmi was nominated for the Best Editing BIFA for The End We Start From, starring Jodie Comer. The film was also a gala film at LFF 2023.

Meanwhile, Audsley was appointed LFS honorary associate in January 2025, joining the ranks of filmmakers who have made an outstanding contribution to world cinema.

He won a BAFTA award for The Snapper, and has enjoyed a career-long collaboration with Stephen Frears (My Beautiful Laundrette, Dangerous Liaisons, Dirty Pretty Things).

LFS director Chris Auty said: “We are thrilled to welcome both Arttu and Mick to London Film School.

“Arttu’s leadership and current industry experience will strengthen our core programme in editing, while Mick’s extraordinary body of work and international reputation bring unparalleled inspiration to our students.

“Together, they reinforce LFS’s commitment to nurturing bold, creative, and highly skilled filmmakers.”
