LCA Lights, Camera, Action has announced the opening up of operations in Berlin, Germany with a state-of-the art studio and demo room and warehouse.
LCA Lights, Camera, Action Europe will be a central hub servicing European customers with faster shipping of a wide range of equipment including lighting, grip, power, distribution, cables, consumables and much more. The facility will be open for rental houses, TV and film studios, independent lighting directors, gaffers and cinematographers looking to purchase a wide range of products from major manufacturers including LiteGear, Creamsource, DMG Lumiere, Rosco, Chris James Filters, Chroma-Q and more.
“We felt the time was right to open up in Central Europe with the changes since Brexit, and COVID has compounded this” explained Nick Shapley, managing director of LCA, Lights, Camera, Action “More often than not, a quick turnaround of goods is required, so shipping from a central location for a large number of our customers is vital to ensure we continue the high standard of customer of service we like to offer.”
Shapley clarifies why Berlin was chosen: “It seemed a logical location for us as it hosts a large majority of companies within the film sector. It’s also a central focal point for European freight flows and has more haulage centres than any other region of Germany, so is ideal for bringing in goods from suppliers as well as having them shipped out to customers”.
Brought on board to head up the European operation, Andy Sauer brings a wealth of knowledge of the film and broadcast industry starting his career working as a lighting technician on set before moving to Lightequip and more recently DoPchoice. “Andy seemed a natural choice for us with his experience in the industry and also having established relationships with a majority of our existing client base. He’s a great fit for the LCA team,” explained Shapley.
Sauer stated: “I’m looking forward to being a pivotal part of LCA’s team, managing and building the business through the European operation as well as connecting with industry friends and colleagues. With the film and broadcast industry being particularly buoyant, having a central hub shipping equipment out to the European film community is important to ensure speedy and hassle-free deliveries.”
Shapley concluded: “It’s exciting times for LCA with our new location – I guess Brexit has been positive for us after all.”
