Actor and director Jesse Eisenberg is awarded this year’s Stockholm Achievement Award during the Stockholm International Film Festival, the award recognises special efforts within the film medium. In connection with the Nordic premiere of Eisenberg’s latest film A Real Pain, an exclusive Face2Face with Jesse Eisenberg will be organised at Bio Skandia, November 14th.
This year’s Stockholm Achievement Award is awarded to a precise actor and director whose intellect and observation skills have become a hallmark that has marked every magnetic role interpretation – whether he plays a child of divorce in Brooklyn, Lex Luthor or the founder of Facebook. It is unsurprising that the same sharpness, humour and richness of nuance are also reflected in the plays, screenplays and articles that he writes in his impressive output. “What a huge honor is it to join the list of recipients of the Stockholm Achievement Award! My movie, “A Real Pain”, is about my Polish ancestors and I know that some of them escaped to Sweden. What a wonderful treat to be able to finally visit the beautiful country and show this film to Swedish audiences!” , says Jesse Eisenberg.
A Real Pain is Eisenberg’s latest film and he is responsible for the direction, script and one of the main roles. The film is about two cousins who travel to Poland to explore their origins after their beloved grandmother passes away. During the journey, they dig into his family’s past, causing old tensions to bubble to the surface.The second cousin is played by Kieran Culkin.
Jesse Eisenberg had his big breakthrough as an actor in “Zombieland” in 2009 and the following year he was nominated as best male actor for both the Oscar and the Golden Globe, for his performance in the role of Mark Zuckerberg in the film “The Social Network”. He has a long acting career behind him and he has “The Squid and the Whale” Lex Luthor in “Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice”. Jesse Eisenberg made his directorial debut in 2022 with “When you finish saving the world”, “a real pain is Eisenberg’s second film as a director.
The Stockholm Achievement Award has previously been awarded to, among others, Uma Thurman, Willem Dafoe, Rosanna Arquette, Fares Fares and Ethan Hawke.
