Jackson Wild announces official selections for 2024 World Wildlife Day film showcase
Mar 25, 2024
Jackson Wild has announced the official film selections for the 2024 World Wildlife Day Film Showcase in partnership with the Secretariat of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
This year’s official Showcase selections were curated from a group of over 75 project entries and nominations from 17 countries around the world. In keeping with this year’s theme, “Digital Innovation for Wildlife Conservation,” the showcase will highlight films, mobile apps, games and VR/360 projects featuring the latest applications of digital technologies in wildlife conservation and trade and the impact on ecosystems and communities around the world of certain digital interventions.
“The films in this year’s showcase are truly inspiring and demonstrate the extraordinary power of technological innovation in service of conservation and impact storytelling,” said Geoff Daniels, Executive
Director of Jackson Wild. “Along with the online games, apps and immersive experiences we’ve selected, I’m certain audiences around the world will be more deeply engaged than ever before and moved to help address the most urgent environmental issues of our day.”
This year, viewers will vote for their favorite project for the Audience Award. The winning filmmaker will be invited to join us at this year’s Jackson Wild Media Awards ceremony later this Fall.
The 2024 World Wildlife Day Showcase is the eighth film competition jointly organized as part of the annual World Wildlife Day celebrations by Jackson Wild, the Secretariat of the Convention on
International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), to inspire personal responsibility and stewardship for endangered creatures across the world.
Official Selections were announced at the UN World Wildlife Day 2024 event at UN Headquarters in New York, NY. The films and other media will be available for free online streaming through the end of the year at watch.eventive.org/2024wwd.
