Framestore is set to host World VFX Day, a global live stream event showcasing the art, craft and innovation of visual effects in filmmaking, on 8 December.

The free event “unites filmmakers, the VFX and animation community and fans around the world”, a press release said, with a full day of industry talks, behind-the-scenes insights and discussions with leading voices in visual storytelling on the agenda.

“The event champions the collaborative artistry behind VFX and animation, recognising the teams and individuals whose work continues to push boundaries in global storytelling,” the release continued.

Past and upcoming speakers and panellists include award-winning supervisors, directors, producers and creative technologists on projects across film, episodic, commercial and immersive experiences.

“Visual effects are instrumental in what we see on screen in bringing extraordinary worlds and characters to life and, in many cases, leading innovation in filmmaking,” said Hayley Miller, founder at World VFX Day.

“World VFX Day is about celebrating the partnership with filmmakers, opening up the process of visual effects and animation for fans and professionals alike, and fostering global conversations about where the industry is headed next. We’re excited to partner with Framestore as our event host this year!”

Hosted from Framestore London, the full programme will be revealed in November – more information is available on the World VFX Day website.
