Film Independent, the nonprofit arts organisation behind the Film Independent Spirit Awards, has announced the dates for its 2027 and 2028 ceremonies.
Returning to the Hollywood Palladium, the 42nd annual Spirit Awards will take place on Saturday 6 March 2027, followed by the 43rd edition on Saturday 19 February 2028.
As Film Independent’s primary fundraiser, the Spirit Awards support the organisation’s year-round programmes, which “champion a global community of artists and audiences who embody diversity, innovation, curiosity, and bold, distinctive vision”.
Film Independent celebrated the 41st Film Independent Spirit Awards on 15 February 2026, hosted by Saturday Night Live alum Ego Nwodim.
At the event, Adolpho Veloso ABC AIP scooped Best Cinematography for his work on Train Dreams.
