Independent visual content provider, EPA Images, announces a five-year partnership with Canon Europe to renew and update its photography and videography equipment to confront the challenges in a changing world. Canon’s advanced EOS R System full-frame mirrorless cameras will be used to capture coverage of breaking news and events from around the world, ranging from politics and business, to sports, arts, culture and entertainment.

With the adoption of mirrorless technology comes the advantage of Canon’s range of optically superior RF lenses. The complete transition from DSLR to mirrorless will be fully supported by Canon with extensive training provided on best practice use of current and future products, as well as employees being enrolled in Canon Professional Services (CPS) on a corporate package.

Jose Luis Paniagua, EPA Editor-in-Chief, highlights: “With a reputation in the editorial and photography market to uphold, we believe Canon is the best possible partner for presence and technological capabilities to enable our photographers to deliver in the most demanding and critical circumstances.

“Canon will help us to complete a full transition to mirrorless cameras through the EOS R System. The advantages of silent shooting, hybrid photo and video capture, compact camera bodies and advanced optics will help make the difference in our daily work.”

As part of the new collaboration, EPA Images will also actively participate in the Canon Student Development Programme, nurturing the next generation of professionals by providing mentoring opportunities, educational lectures, and potential for internships.

Richard Shepherd, Sector Marketing Senior Manager at Canon Europe, said: “We’re pleased to be deepening the relationship between Canon and EPA Images. As the EOS R System marks its fifth anniversary, this partnership demonstrates how far we’ve come with developing mirrorless technology. Talented visual journalists trust in the technology to enable them to capture and deliver high quality photos and videos globally, producing news faster and more efficiently.

“Having EPA Images involved in Canon’s Student Development Programme will bring invaluable, real-world experience to young people. We’ll be working closely together with EPA Images to provide unique and exciting opportunities to the programme.”
