Emmys 2023: Awards ceremony postponed due to strikes
Jul 31, 2023
The 75th Primetime Emmys are to shift from their 18 September slot due to the actors’ and writers’ strikes. The Creative Arts Emmys celebrations, set to take place on 9 and 10 September, will also be affected.
Variety revealed on Thursday 28 July that vendors were told that the Primetime Emmys ceremony would not air on its planned date, with less than two months to go. It marks the first time that the Emmys have been postponed since 2001 and the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
While a new date has yet to be decided, Variety reported that while The Academy would like the ceremony to run in November, Fox prefers January. An update is expected in August.
Nominations for the 75th awards were announced in mid-July; see who made the cut here.
