Eamon Drew joins Atomos

Apr 12, 2024

Atomos announces the appointment of Eamon Drew as chief business development officer to head up global sales and business development with immediate effect. Eamon is a veteran with over 25 years’ experience in developing and executing worldwide sales strategies across the media and entertainment, professional AV, and photographic industries. Based out of Melbourne, Australia, Drew will work closely with the global teams to develop and expand the global footprint of distributors, resellers, and system integrators. The appointment sees Eamon rejoin the company after nine years.

“To say I’m excited to join Atomos as part of the executive management team is very much an understatement,” commented Eamon. “Atomos is a true leader in video technology innovation, having created and continued to define an entirely new category of monitor recorders, starting with the launch of Ninja back in 2010.”

Outgoing CSO, Stephan Kexel, will remain with Atomos for the coming months to ensure a smooth transition.

“It’s great to welcome back an old friend into the fold. The recent Atomos refresh is now extending into sales and opening new markets and Eamon is the right man for the job,” said Atomos CEO and Co-Founder Jeromy Young. “At the same time, it’s necessary, as we are losing such an important team member in Stephan Kexel. Stephan is chasing new adventures in his life, and as a friend I’m fully supportive, but as a leader we need to fill the gap of Stephan’s 12 years’ experience – this is why I am so confident Eamon is the perfect choice.”

“Throughout his time here, Stephan has always diligently faced challenges head-on, demonstrating resilience and determination, managing growth and adversity equally well, especially during the pandemic. His ability to adapt and thrive in ever-changing circumstances is truly admirable and has contributed significantly to our success over the years.”

“Making the decision to leave Atomos was not easy, but after twelve fulfilling years, including seven as CSO, it’s time for a new chapter,” said Stephan. “During this transition phase, I am especially looking forward to mentoring Eamon and seeing how his vision will shape the future of Atomos. I am leaving the company in the most capable hands and eagerly anticipate Atomos’ next steps.”

Eamon Drew is an experienced professional with a strong background in technology and business management. Prior to joining Atomos, Eamon co-founded multiple successful companies, including Australia’s largest professional video products distributor Blonde Robot, and more recently BirdDog Limited (ASX:BDT) a leader in PTZ cameras and an NDI pioneer, where he built the global sales channel and managed global sales for the company’s highest revenue year which led to their successful IPO.

“Eamon comes back to us with a raft of experience that will serve us well as we seek to explore new and adjacent markets on the back of several new product announcements at NAB 2024”, added Young.

“I’ve been a part of the Atomos family in some manner, going all the way back to when Atomos first started. I still remember sending Atomos their very first order for the Ninja via my distribution company Blonde Robot who represented Atomos across Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia,” continued Eamon. “It feels quite serendipitous, and I look forward to working closely with Atomos partners across the globe to put Atomos back to its rightful growth technology leadership position. I plan to shoot the lights out in sales!”
