Creative UK announces £1 million investment in Dimension Studio through Creative Growth Finance
May 12, 2022
Creative UK has welcomed Dimension Studio to its investment portfolio, having completed two rounds of investment worth £1 million since December 2021 through the Creative Growth Finance fund.
Dimension is a leader in the creation of virtual worlds, digital humans, and volumetric content for the entertainment industry. Initially launching as a pioneering VR studio, Hammerhead, in 2014, the team rebranded to Dimension in 2020, adding virtual production and volumetric capture to its capabilities. Dimension has since launched ground-breaking work that explores new forms of storytelling in films, games, sports, music videos, fashion, and metaverse worlds. Recent productions include the Balenciaga – Afterworld: The Age of Tomorrow video game, Coldplay x BTS ‘My Universe’ holograms, and virtual production services on Disney’s forthcoming Pinocchio.
Prior to Creative Growth Finance’s investment, the development of Hammerhead, and subsequently Dimension, has been supported by two loans from Creative England.
Mehjabeen Patrick, chief investment officer, Creative UK, said: “We are delighted to make a second investment into Dimension Studio through our Creative Growth Finance fund. We’ve been working in partnership with Dimension for six years and in that time they’ve grown from strength to strength, solidifying their position as a global leader in the immersive content sector. This latest round is a testament to the value we place on long-term partnerships with our investee companies.”
Simon Windsor, co-founder and co-CEO, Dimension, said: “Creative UK understands the importance of investing in new forms of creative content and has supported us in reaching the levels of unprecedented growth we’re experiencing today. This further investment enables Dimension to continue to expand its capabilities and advance market opportunities that embrace the metaverse, volumetric filmmaking and virtual production.”
