BSC commemorative viewing glass marks 75 years of cinematic excellence
Mar 4, 2024
The British Society of Cinematographers has commissioned a commemorative viewing glass to celebrate its 75th anniversary.
Meticulously crafted for discerning cinematographers, accomplished gaffers, and avid collectors, this exceptional item embodies a celebration of the BSC’s rich legacy.
Imbued with an aura of exclusivity, the Viewing Glass is available in a limited run of 25 silver and 250 brass pieces. Each meticulously numbered and registered, these pieces stand as individualised tokens of cinematic history, offering a unique connection to the BSC’s unparalleled legacy.
The BSC Board would present a governor with President’s Viewing Glass for their time in office. Based on its iconic shape, this stunning piece was created in collaboration with Arkane (who made all metal parts), From the Silver Screen, and James Friend ASC BSC.
Working with Tiffen, Arkane selected a Tiffen Natural ND3.0 (FSND) optic, equivalent – 10 Stop ND for looking at cloud movement and bright sources without eye strain. Crafted from premium materials, the silver and brass versions showcase an unparalleled level of quality and craftsmanship. The choice of materials ensures not only the longevity of the viewing glass but also a tactile and aesthetic experience that befits the prestige of the BSC.
