The BFI has announced its complete programme for BFI Southbank and BFI IMAX for late October and November, beginning with TOO MUCH: Melodrama on Film.
The UK-wide season celebrating “the vivid visual language, heightened dramatics and emotional pathos at the heart of film melodrama” will also run at cinemas and venues across the UK from October to December, as well as online via a curated collection of films available to stream on demand on BFI Player.
Meanwhile, on 4 November, Laura Mulvey in Conversation will see the filmmaker and theorist discuss her influential work over the last 50 years, as well as receiving her recently announced BFI Fellowship, at BFI Southbank.
A Laura Mulvey: Thinking Through Film season will also celebrate her scholarship, teaching and programming.
Other seasons will focus on legendary filmmaker Terence Davies and influential documentarian Frederick Wiseman, as well as African cinema and Halloween.
