A BAFTA trophy on a sofa British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has  announced the recipients of its 2025 Scholarship Programmes and the prestigious Prince William BAFTA Bursary, awarding more than £277,000 in financial support to 86 emerging creatives across the UK and North America.

This year marks a significant expansion of the bursary scheme, with a record number of recipients benefiting from BAFTA’s continued commitment to breaking down financial barriers in the screen industries. The grants will support a diverse new generation of talent — including filmmakers, games designers, actors, producers, editors, and more — as they develop their careers in film, games, and television.

The announcement was made this morning at the BAFTA Patron, Bursary & Scholarships Breakfast, held at BAFTA 195 Piccadilly in London. The event was opened by BAFTA Chair Sara Putt, who welcomed guests and emphasised the importance of nurturing creative talent from all backgrounds.

A highlight of the morning was a Q&A session with acclaimed actor and director Peter Capaldi, a long-time supporter of the BAFTA bursary programme. The conversation was hosted by broadcaster Ali Plumb and offered insights into Capaldi’s own journey and his continued support for emerging voices in the industry.

Fellow bursary supporter, actor and producer Elaine Collins, was also in attendance, alongside a number of patrons and donors who have made the programme possible. The event celebrated the continued generosity of supporters, from founding donor Paul Greengrass — the award-winning film director, producer and screenwriter — to the broad network of patrons sustaining the initiative today.
