Applications open for NFTS Inside Pictures programme

Feb 17, 2021

The National Film and Television School (NFTS) has announced applications are open for its prestigious Inside Pictures business training and leadership skills development programme. Now in its 18th successful year, the 2021 programme is open to applicants from around the world who demonstrate a firm commitment to the European film industries. The programme is supported by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union, ScreenSkills and the BFI, awarding funds from The National Lottery.

There are 20 places available for executives and producers with at least five years’ experience in film or an associated creative industry. Successful applicants will be executives from across the value chain who display determination and an entrepreneurial drive to succeed and who want to lead the EU film industry into the digital future. Applications can be made via www.inside-pictures.com until the deadline of 14th March 2021.

2021 marks the 10th year of Inside Pictures being delivered by the NFTS, one of the world’s leading film, television and games schools.  The global film and television industries have needed to pivot quickly to respond to changes brought about by the pandemic. Inside Pictures is more needed than ever before to give executives the tools to navigate the many challenges and opportunities ahead within the international film business.

An invaluable opportunity to grow your network and your business strategy

By becoming a participant, you will be part of the Inside Pictures family, joining the ranks of its illustrious alumni, and emerging from these challenging times armed with the confidence, leadership skills, networks and business acumen necessary to further your international film career.

Having a space to reflect on how businesses are adapting feels especially vital, by equipping individuals with the skills to help lead the industry through great change.

Comprised of three intensive one-week modules and a tailored project beginning in June 2021 through to January 2022, the programme develops cutting edge industry business knowledge, management skills, profile and a cross-industry contact network needed for leaders from across the industry to thrive in the global business of film.

Seminars, workshops, and networking events cover all aspects of the international film business – from development through production, financing, worldwide distribution, marketing and exhibition and the latest digital developments.

Responsive to change

Inside Pictures is aiming for all course elements of the 2021 programme to take place in person, as per the usual timetable of June, September, November and into January 2022.  However, in these times of huge uncertainty and with restrictions differing across countries, Inside Pictures has developed a flexible approach to delivery, capable of ensuring the course continues to offer high-level content and all the benefits of the programme, including access to top level speakers in L.A from both studio and the independent sectors, whatever the individual circumstances or regulations may be at any given time. When in-person attendance is not possible, Inside Pictures will deliver the programme online and can build on the successful track record of the 2020 edition, where all three key modules took place remotely.

Testimonials from Inside Pictures 2020 Cohort

“Participating in Inside Pictures during 2020 was an invaluable experience for me. Much has been said about the quality of the programme, and it’s all true. Especially given the extraordinary circumstances of the COVID year, Inside Pictures was the ideal framework to reflect on the most topical questions for our industry. The programme was also a huge encouragement for times to come and will be at the top of my list of the few positive memories from 2020.” Rusta Mizani (Germany) Head of Business Affairs, augenschein Filmproduktion, GmbH

“Inside Pictures is a truly unique opportunity that offer a lot more than just being a training programme. “Inside Pictures is a life-saver in such a tumultuous, Covid-challenged year. It has not only provided lots of learning, but a real camaraderie with fellow producers and execs who have largely been isolated due to global circumstances. It has helped me feel connected to our beloved industry that much more. On top of the bond with trusted peers, I really appreciate the level and insight of the speakers. The programme is a confirmation of the path I’m on and a truly inspiring experience. I recommend it wholeheartedly.” Arno Hazebroek (Canada) COO/Producer, Samsonic Media

“I am now equipped with a tool-belt of insight, advice and invaluable business skills to take with me as my career progresses and the gem I will treasure most is the wonderful group of comrades with whom I will continue this journey. Thank you, Inside Pictures, for such a unique opportunity.” Samantha Allwinton (UK) Senior Investment Associate, Ingenious Media
