HIJACK has announced the appointment of Nic Turton as its new director of digital production services, with a remit to develop and grow HIJACK’s on-set services. With over two decades of experience in the film industry, Turton has a uniquely wide breadth of experience and is highly regarded, most recently in his role within HIJACK as DIT and live colourist.

Turton began his career at The Video Lounge, a top post-production facility in Cape Town, where he worked on international brand commercials, as well as long-form projects ranging from documentaries to indie short films and feature films. He later co-founded Treehouse Recording Studios and Treehouse Post Production, where he worked with acclaimed South African artists. He also co-founded Post Office Post Production, an award-winning boutique post facility.

As a freelancer, Turton developed a unique and broad skill set that encompasses everything from camera work to the post-production pipeline and final delivery. Since moving to the UK he has worked with HIJACK as a Digital Imaging Technician and Live Colourist for numerous international clients. His extensive knowledge of workflow and his hands-on experience make him an invaluable asset to the future of HIJACK.

In his new role as director of digital production services, Turton will oversee the roll-out of new services and ensure that the company’s DITs have access to the very best equipment. He will also lead the upgrade of HIJACK’s unique fleet of independently powered mobile labs.

“I am thrilled to join HIJACK as its director of digital production services,” said Turton. “HIJACK is such an innovative company, and I am excited to work with the team to deliver cutting-edge digital services to our clients.”

“We are delighted to have Nic on board in his new role” said HIJACK’s managing director Rich Simpson. “We have so many plans to expand our digital production services division, and Nic’s vast practical knowledge and experience in the field will help us continue to provide our clients with the highest quality services.”

HIJACK is a leading boutique post-production facility based in East London. They provide a range of services including digital imaging technicians, dailies lab, colour grading, audio post-production and deliverables.

Turton joins the leadership team at an exciting time for HIJACK. In the past 12 months they have handled a typically wide variety of projects taking in commercials, HETV, features, shorts, documentaries and art installations. However in 2023, the planned expansion of all their services is set to bolster their support for clients at every stage of production. “Our holistic approach means that our clients can rest assured that we can handle the complete workflow process from capture to delivery,” commented MD Simpson. “This peace of mind means our clients can lean on us for support where they need it, from live grading through to DCPs.”
