Sony Announces free download of new updates to Camera Remote SDK
Oct 12, 2022
Sony launched an updated version of its Camera Remote Software Development kit (SDK), adding compatibility with Cinema Line Cameras, the FX6, FX3, and FX30 and key functionality to support third parties in the development of bespoke applications utilising the industry-leading performance of Sony cameras.
Version 1.06 of the Camera Remote SDK, which is available to download for free from today, offers new features that are particularly important in the areas of inspection, drones and content creation.
A newly added ‘Drone GPS sync’ (Location Information Transfer) function enables to link GPS information to still images in real-time with high precision by sending “ImageID” from SDK.
New operational menu settings, including Reset / Save Settings, allow users to experience a smooth and efficient workflow.
The new compatibility with FX6 offers control functionality through Content Mobile Browser and allows for up to 5 units to be controlled in parallel. With an expanded ISO range of up to 409600 and a 35mm full-frame sensor, the FX6 offers the ability to capture content in extremely low-light conditions.
Yasuo Baba, Director, Digital Imaging, Sony Europe BV said: “Uptake of the Sony Camera Remote SDK increases every quarter and the breadth of companies with whom we are having conversations to utilise it, is both fascinating and professionally satisfying. We are seeing end use applications that are truly benefiting from the industry leading quality of Sony cameras and the enhanced video functionality of Version 1.06 means that we can continue this momentum. We are fully committed to enhancing the SDK experience and working with both existing and new partners to deliver true market innovation.”
